About this event

Pinnacle Park Forest Bathing

Saturday, April 6th, 2024

Arrive a little early to catch the bus. Pinnacle Park is near Sylva. The drive is 25 minutes/19 miles from the Church. We will meet in the parking lot for people signed up for the church bus or if you want to follow the bus to the park. You can drive your own car. Contact the church office if you plan to attend or have questions. We will make some time to have conversation and share ideas about future events.

What is Forest Bathing? Forest Bathing is mindfulness meditation using your five senses in the forest atmosphere. Not simply a walk in the woods, it is the conscious and contemplative practice of being immersed in the sights, sounds and smells of the forest. It was developed in Japan during the 1980s, and in 1982 Japan made this form of mobile meditation under the canopy of living forests a part of its national health program.  Forest bathing seems to significantly mitigate the root cause of a multitude of ailments: stress. Excess stress can play a role in headaches, high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, skin conditions, asthma, and arthritis, among many other ailments.
