Sojourners' Baseball Game

About this event

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Ready for some peanuts, popcorn, and hot dogs? Then join the Sojourners for a night at
McCormick Field on Tuesday, Aug. 27, to see the Asheville Tourists baseball team take on the Hickory Crawdads in a game that starts at 6:35 PM.

Professional baseball in Asheville dates to 1897, when the Asheville Moonshiners took the field. It has been played continuously nearly every year since 1909. The “Tourists” name dates to 1915, when local sportswriters begin referring to the team as the Tourists. Today, the Tourists are a High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. McCormick Field, where the Tourists home games are played, opened in 1924 and was last renovated in 1992. It can seat 4000 fans.

Thirty seats in Section I have been reserved for the Sojourners and anyone else that would like to join this outing for the First UMC family. Cost per ticket is $14. Price of the ticket is non- refundable. While the Sojourners usually share a meal together before or after an event, for the ball game you can purchase your meal at McCormick Field during the game.
