Ash Wednesday

About this event

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of our Lenten season in the life of the church.  Just like the changing of the weather seasons, our worship follows a pattern of church seasons throughout the liturgical year.  On Ash Wednesday we come together to hear the scriptures read, remember that we have been created by God out of the dust, confess our sins, remember that our lives on this Earth are limited and finite, and consider what a Holy Lent may look like for ourselves.  Lent is a time of self-reflection, adopting spiritual disciplines, and saying “no” to the things that draw us away from God and one another.  We commit to abstain from harmful habits or distractions, while replacing that time with habits that renew our spirits and rekindle our relationships with one another. We hope you will join us for Ash Wednesday.  We will offer several opportunities, learn more about these opportunities below.

• 12:00pm in the Gym (Christian Growth Center): Join us for lunch and fellowship followed by a short Ash Wednesday liturgy and imposition of ashes.

• 1:00-2:00pm in the Sanctuary: The pastoral team will be in the sanctuary from 1-2pm for others to come and receive the imposition of ashes during a more contemplative time.

• In-Person Worship, 6:30pm in the Gym (Christian Growth Center): We hope you will join us in-person for a time of reflection, prayer, music, scripture, sermon, and the receiving of the ashes on our foreheads.  Nursery and childcare will be provided for infants and young children.
